Social allowances

The social allowance was created to give children from lower-income families every opportunity to develop.

Collaborate

Single-parent families

You form a single-parent family if you live alone with your children.

If your average taxable gross income (plus professional expenses) does not exceed 2,501.28 euros per month, you will receive a provisional social allowance. If we are unable to award this automatically, you have the option of applying for it using this document.

We only award the allowance upon receiving confirmation from FPS Finance. We will also evaluate the preceding period.

Longterm illness

Long-term illness

If you are sick or incapacitated for work, you may be entitled to an allowance. Following 7 months of illness, we investigate whether you are entitled to a social allowance in addition to your child benefit.

The income threshold for allowance eligibility depends on your family situation:

  • You live with your partner and children. You are entitled to an allowance if your average gross monthly income does not exceed 2,582.00 euros.
  • You live alone with your children. You are entitled to an allowance if your average gross monthly income does not exceed 2,501.28 euros.

You can easily calculate this amount by dividing the amount on your tax return for ‘combined taxable professional income’ plus professional expenses by 12.
We only award the allowance upon receiving confirmation from FPS Finance. We will also evaluate the preceding period.

Long-term unemployed

Long-term unemployed & pensioners

You may be entitled to an allowance if you are unemployed and receiving benefits or you are retired. Following 7 months of unemployment or from the first day of retirement, we examine whether you are entitled to a social allowance in addition to your child benefit.
